Size: 12 x 12 finished square
Materials: One fat quarter - "FUN" printed fabric
4 inches X WOF (width of fabric) background fabric
Cuts: Cut one 12" square of printed fabric
Cut two 2" x 40" strips of background fabric
Construction:
1) Align ruler to the oposite corners and cut the square in half diagonally.
2) Beginning 1" in from the end of the strip, stitch the strip to the diagonal edge of one triangle. Press seam allowance toward the printed fabric.
3) Aligning straight sides of the triangle, fold in half and finger press the strip to mark the center. In the same way, fold the remaining triangle in half and finger press to mark the center od it diaginal edge.
4) Matching center folds, stitch reaining triangle to the other edge of the strip. Press seam allowances toward the printed fabric
5) Trim the strip to 1" beyond the corner.
6) Align the ruler diagonally in the opposite direction and cut in half.
7) Repeat steps 2-6.
8) Now fold the square in half horizontally and finger press the mark halfway points.
9) Align your ruler along these marks and cut in half horizontally.
10) Stitch a background strip between these cuts edges as you did in Steps 2-6
11) Press and trim
12) Repeat steps 8-10 now on the vertical direction.
13) Center the design and trim the block to a 12inch square.
